Spring, my favorite season, can be as unpredictable as it is delightful! And living in NYC, I need to be ready for anything from a cold snap to a flower-filled sunny day. Here are my top 5 tops for this gorgeously complex season that means sunny days ahead:
The Joni Classic Shirt is a versatile and classic relaxed-fit top that will serve you well in all sorts of weather. Warm day? The loose cut and lightweight fabric is nice and breezy over a tee and mini skirt while giving an effortless class. Chilly rainy day? There is room to wear it over a long sleeve turtleneck. Style it with a button or two open and a necklace over the turtleneck for layers of detail.
A cotton sweater is a must. The Palmer Sweater comes in two color options, both made with 100% organic cotton. Lightweight and roomy, it is a wonderful piece for layering on cool days or wearing on its own on breezy warm ones. Consider pairing the wide cut of the sweater with fitted-waist wide leg denim and style with a partial tuck in front for a relaxed and fashion-forward look.
Is it even spring without a great floral print? I’m going to bend my own rules here a bit and vote for the Darcie Bodysuit. Okay, bodysuits are not everyone’s cup-of-tea, but hear me out! This lovely piece has a ballerina-cut scoop in front and back that is flattering in any scenario - date night, workday, weekend wear - you name it. I am a huge fan of a tucked-in top and bodysuits make it possible to have the perfect tuck without the fuss! The long sleeves of the Darcie Bodysuit allow you to seize the day without a jacket when that spring sun is shining. The fitted cut makes it a solid layering item under pieces like the Joni Classic Shirt or the Palmer Sweater.
Speaking of florals, take a look at the Willow Blouse - perfect for the second half of spring when hints of summer start to show. While the long sleeves provide sun coverage, the cotton or modal (depending on which style you choose) breathes beautifully, and the blousy sleeves and body provide room for - you guessed it - layering a fitted top underneath. If you prefer to leave flowers in the garden, we have you covered - the Willow Blouse also comes in solid and geometric patterns.
Last but not least, we cannot neglect the stalwart of tops - the classic t-shirt! I’m a firm believer in investing in high-quality sustainable basics that hold for years, which is why The V-Neck landed in my top five picks for spring. If the v-neck cut isn’t your jam, try out The Crew Tee for a classic style that looks great on its own with denim or layers under your favorite jacket.
